Colours have been an inseparable part of our lives. This morning, I met a dear friend of mine at the Jogger’s Park where she enlightened me with Colour Therapy, a science that I was unaware of. What she said, really struck a chord. If we observe closely, the color of our surroundings plays an unobtrusive but significant role in our lives. Nature with its bounty of colours has helped us develop colour therapy based on the principle of associating the beneficial effect of the sun rays with the colour of human chakras.
A pink rose and not a yellow one is given as an expression of love. Bright colours and never black, signify joy and celebration. A fatigued mind can be relaxed unimaginably in lush green surroundings. A soft pastel shade of pink immediately softens your feelings while a glaring red puts you in the same glaring mood. Choosing or liking for a colour is not just a matter of preference or factors for decoration, they, in fact, bring out the deficiency of that colour in our system.

Well, we all know, Sunlight plays a very important role in our lives. The sunlight when split into, brings out various colours of respective wavelengths. When the ailments are detected, the colour chakra in our body, that is, that area associated with it, is exposed artificially to that colour. What must be done? Keep the water or oil in a glass bottle of that colour and expose it to the sunlight after which it is believed that it becomes therapeutic.
If necessary, the bottle can be wrapped with gelatin paper of the same colour. Keep it on a wooden plank or at least three to four hours between ten in the morning to three in the evening, for around 40 days. As far as possible do not expose it to other colours. Now the coloured medicated water can be given to the patient at an interval of 15 minutes to 120 minutes depending on the intensity of the disease.
Alternatively, a coloured bulb of 60 to 100 watts can be used. If such a bulb is not available cover it with a coloured gelatin paper. After this, light the lamp and keep the affected part of the patient 18 to 20 inches away and take this treatment 5-10 minutes twice or thrice a day. Besides this, it is also advisable to change the colour of surrounding and clothing according to the ailment.
However, a statutory precaution would be doing the treatment under the guidance of a colour therapist.
